What is a tax micro-account?

A tax micro-account is your individual bank account number for paying PIT, CIT and VAT. It has been in effect since 1 January 2020 and replaced the old individual tax-office accounts. It's tied to your tax ID (NIP) or PESEL and stays the same no matter which tax office you're assigned to.

You don't open it at a bank — it's calculated using a fixed formula from the National Bank of Poland (NBP). This tool does that for you instantly, with no login and no fees.

Frequently asked questions

What taxes do I pay into the micro-account?

Mainly PIT, CIT and VAT. Other liabilities (e.g. PCC or inheritance and gift tax) are still paid the old way — you'll find the full, current list at podatki.gov.pl.

Tax ID (NIP) or PESEL — which should I use?

PESEL — if you're a private individual who doesn't run a business and isn't a registered VAT payer. Tax ID (NIP) — if you run a business, are a VAT payer, or a payer of contributions (e.g. for employees).

How do I check my micro-account?

Enter your tax ID (NIP) or PESEL in the field above — the number appears instantly. For extra certainty, you can confirm it in the Ministry of Finance's official generator before your first payment.

Does the micro-account ever change?

No. The number is fixed — it depends only on your tax ID (NIP) or PESEL. Even if you change your address or the tax office you're assigned to, your micro-account stays the same.

Is this tool safe to use?

Yes. The number is calculated entirely in your browser — your tax ID (NIP) or PESEL is never sent or stored anywhere. This is an independent tool, not affiliated with the Ministry of Finance.
